Others have advanced to a point where they no longer need a discussion forum to survive and float off into cyberspace.
what do you personally believe happens after we die?
i don't believe we really know everything about god or the afterlife.
i do believe that we do transform to something beyond our physical comprehension.

... how truly great this place is.. i have not been on many forums, but i think this one is unique and strong in a very important way.
it is of course a support group for those exiting the wts, or trying to deal with remaining within it, first and foremost.
but the awesome thing about this place is how it welcomes everyone.

I have been looking at your avatar.
Have you got two heads or should I take more water with it?

myelaine Where have you been? I have missed your caustic style of posting.
You have summed up the forum well. This is a place where everyone is welcome, however bizarre their present point of view. You fit in well and remind me not to let my sword go rusty, in case your thief in the knight should happen upon me.
I expect Tammy will be kinder to you; whereas a sinner like me has no ideal to live up to.

That’s a very nice sentiment to express Tammy.
This board continues to offer support and help to damaged people leaving the Watchtower Society. It fills a space for those who are feeling lost and often alone. At the same time as they have lost their belief in a new world, and Jehovah’s approval, they are shunned by those they love. They are able to share their loss and heal by talking with the people here, amny of whom are ex-Jehovah's Witnesses.
It has helped me to feel validated in my decision to leave the Watchtower Society, and I like to think I have in some small way tried to give something back. Debate can be helpful in helping people to adopt a new way of assimilating information and coming to an independent conclusion with out the heavy hand of the Watchtower Society on their shoulder.
Here’s to the forum lasting many more years.
what i'd like to know....do you care if there is a god or not?
do you care if you have found a religion and others haven't?
how serious is it if people don't agree with your spiritual agenda?
AGuest “While I'm not sure I can agree with the first part of that, I certainly believe the last part. I am defined by who... and what... I believe I am. Isn't everyone? ”
Yes, we are all defined by what we believe, support, or the ideals we live by.
If our ego or self image is defined by a strong conviction or belief system, then we will feel compelled to defend it against any attack or undermining. As you say, this a necessary part of living in a world where people live by different ideals. The danger arises when the belief system does harm to society. Flexibility and finding common ground, can lead to peace. This board provides an arena where beliefs can be challenged and adjusted. On the whole it works very well.

LouBelle “I know why...people are so identified with their ego that what they believe and what they perceive as truth defines who they are. ”
Good point. You have hit the nail on the head. Ego is always present in heated debate. The ego needs to triumph over others and strengthen itself by reassuring the self that it is what it has come to believe it is. To fail is a blow to the ego. Constant failure can destroy the ego. It is replaced by humility.
Eastern philosophy has much to say about the ego and the treachery it is capable of. The less of an ego we have the more real and true we are to ourself and others.
God won't get anywhere in this world without a degree. Talking in Hebrew just won’t cut it in the city and burnt offerings are so yesterday. Celestial chariots are a no, no, Audi is cool. God needs to change his name, buy some decent suits, aquire a computer and start communicating in an up-to-date way. Life outside the desert will be a Revelation to him.
i found this letter on dave reekie's blog and asked him if i could write a piece about it.
i am glad that he accepted.. it's so rare to find a real, authentic handwritten letter from a jehovah's witness parent to their disfellowshipped child, so we hope you can read it and show it to any apologists that claim the watchtower society doesn't condone shunning.. you can read the article here.. .
warm regards,.
It is all about trust. People make their decisions based on information they are given. If they are given false information they will unwittingly make the wrong decisions. Those who deliberately give out propaganda containing false information, are responsible for the mistakes they cause other to make.
We expect it to be safe to proceed through a green traffic light. If the traffic control system is faulty, the result can be tragic. The Watchtower Society had abused the trust of its membership. Then again it is to be expected. It is what all politicians and would be world leader do.
peace, and love to you.
we are all in this together,to some, we're birds of a featherhowever, no matter what they say,we'll continue to watch, fight, and pray.
